Your First Visit
Your initial visit will be similar to the first meeting with any medical professional. Your first step will be to fill out preliminary paperwork to establish your medical health history and past care. We’ll also ask you to describe your symptoms and document their severity and date of onset. If accident or injury caused your symptoms, we’ll ask that you explain the details of the incident as well.
Some of the questions we’ll ask include:
- When and how did the pain start?
- Where is it located?
- Describe the pain – is it sharp, dull, searing/burning, or throbbing? Does it come and go, or is it continual?
- Did the pain start as a result of an injury?
- What activities/circumstances makes it better or worse?
Once you’ve filled out the paperwork, you’ll meet with Dr. Alder for a consultation. During the meeting, you’ll discuss your health history, conditions, and symptoms in greater detail. The doctor will also perform a chiropractic physical examination. We care about your well-being and want to ensure you receive the best care possible. The in-depth assessment provides Dr. Alder with the necessary information to determine if you’re a good candidate for chiropractic care. If so, he will propose a treatment plan to restore you to optimum health. Otherwise, he’ll refer you to another specialist who can better serve your needs.
Our goal is to help every patient achieve lifelong health and wellness. Chiropractic care is a natural and safe alternative to drugs and surgeries, which can sometimes do more harm than good. However, it is not for everyone. During your initial consultation, we encourage you to express concerns and ask questions. The initial interview is a chance for us to get to know one another. We invite any and all questions regarding the practice, methods of treatment, Dr. Alder’s care philosophy, and anything else you may have in mind.
